1. Summary

Zepilo does not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not place any cookies that track you across websites or build advertising profiles.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for website analytics, which is deliberately cookieless, it collects no personal data and does not use cookies or device fingerprinting of any kind. We also store two small preferences in your browser's localStorage (not cookies), which are explained below.

2. What Is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Cookies can be used to remember preferences, keep you logged in, or track your behaviour across websites. EU law (the ePrivacy Directive, implemented in the Netherlands as the Telecommunicatiewet) requires websites to obtain informed consent before placing non-essential cookies.

3. Cookies We Use

3.1 Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (which pages are visited, where traffic comes from, which browsers and countries are represented).

Cloudflare Web Analytics is a cookieless analytics solution. It does not:

  • Set any cookies on your device;
  • Track individual visitors across sessions;
  • Collect any personally identifiable information;
  • Use fingerprinting techniques to identify devices or individuals;
  • Share data with advertising networks.

Because Cloudflare Web Analytics does not process personal data, it does not require your consent under the GDPR or the Telecommunicatiewet.

3.2 Essential Authentication Cookies (Zepilo Dashboard)

When you log in to the Zepilo dashboard at dashboard.zepilo.com, we set one or more session cookies necessary for authentication. These cookies:

  • Are strictly necessary for the operation of the authenticated service;
  • Do not track you across other websites;
  • Expire when you log out or when the session expires;
  • Cannot be disabled without breaking login functionality.

Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under the ePrivacy Directive.

4. localStorage (Not Cookies)

We store two small values in your browser's localStorage. localStorage is a browser storage mechanism distinct from cookies, values stored in localStorage are never automatically sent to our servers (unlike cookies). They exist solely on your device and are never transmitted to Zepilo or any third party.

Key Purpose Sent to servers?
zepilo-theme Remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode so we don't flash the wrong theme on page load. No, stored only on your device.
Locale preference Remembers whether you prefer the Dutch or English version of the site, so we can redirect correctly on future visits. No, stored only on your device.

These localStorage values contain no personal data and are not used for tracking. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data for www.zepilo.com.

5. Third-Party Cookies

We do not embed any third-party content (social media widgets, YouTube videos, advertising networks, or third-party analytics scripts) that would set cookies on our marketing website. The only third-party script loaded on our marketing site is the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon, which is cookieless.

6. No Advertising or Tracking

We do not use:

  • Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager;
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel);
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag;
  • Any other advertising tracking pixels;
  • Behavioural retargeting services;
  • Any cookies or scripts that track you across websites for commercial purposes.

7. Your Choices

Because we do not use non-essential cookies on our marketing website, there is nothing to opt out of regarding cookies. You will not see a cookie consent banner on our website, and we do not require your consent to load our pages.

If you wish to clear the localStorage values mentioned in section 4, you can do so by:

  • Opening your browser's developer tools (F12 on most browsers);
  • Navigating to Application → Local Storage → www.zepilo.com;
  • Deleting the entries there.

Alternatively, clearing your browser's site data for www.zepilo.com will remove both localStorage values. Doing so will reset your theme preference to the system default and your locale preference to the default (English).

8. Changes to This Policy

If our use of cookies or local storage changes materially, we will update this page and indicate the new "last updated" date. We will not introduce tracking or advertising cookies without first updating this policy and, where required, obtaining your consent.
